Going by the size charts with the listing, it seems as if the XXL and 1X are going to be comparable in size. THEY ARE NOT. I bought both since I tend to be a bit in between. I can wear XL, XXL, or 1X depending on sizing and cut. For reference I'm 5'4, size 18 give or take, 40D, somewhere in between between being apple shaped and hourglass (I have both a defined upper waist and a bit of a lower tummy). The 1X in this jacket was pretty big all over and had a frumpy look. It's also longer, hitting at mid-butt. If you're around my size and want a looser, more relaxed fit you can wear over layers, definitely go larger. Bc the XXL by comparison just barely fit. It is quite a bit smaller than the 1X. That being said, I actually decided to keep the XXL and return the 1X bc on me the XXL has a much sleeker and more fitted look that I wanted. It hits above my butt and tapers in at the waist slightly. But that in turn means the arms are a bit restrictive (tho I have kind of big arms and broad shoulders for a woman so I have this problem with most non-stretchy coats) and definitely will not wear over anything thicker than t shirt material. On both, though, the sleeves are a bit long for me and there's some loose threads/ sloppy stitching that I wouldn't expect of an $80 jacket, but nothing that impacts functionality. Overall, don't trust the size chart if you're typically in between straight and plus sizes like me.
